Reperer et Detruire: 880 Sqn

Reperer et Detruire; really, in museum work, we shouldn't really repair *or* destroy anything- guess we just don't have that in common with the lads in (the now disbanded) 880 Squadron. Mounting the colours for exhibit is my current project here at the museum. Keep an eye out on my gallery for the upcoming condition and works undertaken reports as I progress with this tasking.

I heart Kuwait: The Series

Wed Jun 24, 2009, 12:36 PM
I've just uploaded a series of 4 items, called I heart Kuwait. Yesterday, the curator pulled me aside to mention she thought that our buddy in the photos was suffering from mold damage. After some highly scientific investigation, I determined that there wasn't a mold problem, there was a 'some people's kids' problem. Ickybob here is displayed standing in kitty litter, to represent the sand in the desert (and the kitty litter has the secondary characteristic of being moisture-absorbing, which is a pretty good thing considering our fluctuating humidity!). Kids were reaching in, grabbing handfuls of the stuff, and pitching it at him! I wasted no time in cracking out a vacuum (HEPA filtered, always), a soft-bristle brush, a bone-folder, and a dust mask (health and safety first!) and got down to work.

The 4 items uploaded represent the photo documentation I did on this work, which incidentally, reminded me that I have to really work on consistency on my photo documentation- there's a few 'close to, but not really that much like the first photo'. "Close-Up" is the worst, and "Water Bottle (holder)" is probably the best. I'll have to start printing up a quickie contact sheet after I take my 'before' shots to have some guidance for my 'after' shots.

Wow, hi there! I didn't even realize it was you commenting on my picture until I checked out your profile to say thank you. How are you? I haven't seen you in over 10 years!

I'm well, thanks! Getting married in the fall, and working full time (and in my field of study no less!). Basically I can't complain :) Does your mum still work with my mum?

No, Mom left Shopper over a year ago. She was getting a bit sick for awhile there, and the stress of the job was just too much for her. (My Mom and Dad divorced, I don't know if you knew that or not) She's thinking about going back to work soon, but probably not back to Shoppers.

Congratulations on getting married this fall! :D I've been married 6 years now. Amazing huh? Said I was never going to get married, and here I am. Funny how opinions change when you find the right person.

It's nice to hear you're working in your field of study too (I can't remember what it is though. Pretty sure Mom mentioned it, but I can't remember) I'm a housewife. Not completely by choice though. I went to Burridge for a year, but I didn't really want to be an Admin Assistant anyway, so I'm fine not working in my "field"

I'm kind of happy I stumbled accross you again. You were one of my few friends in HS, and I'm kinda sorry we lost track of each other a bit. I have you on Facebook, but with only dial-up, I can't check that as often as I'd like.

You might have noticed I talk more than I used too though. ^^; Over talking is a bad habit I've developed.

I'm really glad you're doing well! :D
